| Complete documentation packages for Deluge/Fire Water Spray Systems, Piping Expansion Joints, Pipe Support & Hanger Systems, and Tank Bund/Dike Walls — built for EPC contractors, QA/QC engineers, and commissioning teams. |
Every piece of fire protection and static equipment on an industrial project needs the same paper trail before it can be handed over: a datasheet to spec it, a method statement to install it safely, a risk assessment to control the hazards, an ITP to inspect it correctly, and a checklist to close it out. Missing even one of these slows down handover and creates rework at the worst possible time — during commissioning, under schedule pressure.
This week we’ve released four new Complete Equipment Document Packages, each covering exactly that 5-document set. Here’s what’s in them and why each document earns its place.
1. Deluge/Fire Water Spray System (NFPA 15)
Deluge and fire water spray systems get commissioned under tighter scrutiny than most utility equipment — a failed pass-off here means a life-safety system was never actually proven, so the paperwork trail matters more than usual.
Datasheet — captures actuation method, water demand, discharge density, and hydraulic reference points in one place, so procurement, engineering, and site all work from the same numbers instead of chasing a vendor submittal.
Method Statement — sequences the deluge valve installation, piping tie-ins, and detection/actuation wiring safely, with manpower and tooling laid out up front.
Risk Assessment — covers pressurized water release, valve testing, and confined-space hazards with real control measures, not generic boilerplate.
ITP — locks in Hold and Witness points for the hydrostatic test, flow test, and actuation trip test so nothing gets missed under time pressure.
Checklist + Excel Tracker — a 6-page sign-off checklist paired with a live-dashboard tracker so a QA/QC lead can see completion status at a glance across every deluge system on a project.
The benefit of a ready-made version: building this set from scratch typically eats the better part of a day per document type. Starting from a validated, standards-referenced template turns that into an editing pass.
2. Piping Expansion Joint (EJMA & ASME B31.3)
Expansion joints are the kind of component everyone assumes has documentation prepared somewhere already, and often doesn’t — this is exactly the less-obvious documentation gap we build for.
Datasheet — captures joint type, movement capacity (axial, lateral, angular), pressure/temperature rating, and materials of construction in one place.
Method Statement — the alignment, tie-in sequencing, and shipping-bar removal procedure specific to expansion joints, not a generic piping method statement.
Risk Assessment — pressure-test and pinch-point hazards addressed directly, not folded into a generic piping risk assessment.
ITP — includes the cold-spring and pre-set verification points that expansion joint installation actually requires but generic piping ITPs often omit.
Checklist + Excel Tracker — receiving through final tie-in, with shipping restraint removal and movement verification covered explicitly.
3. Pipe Support & Hanger System (MSS SP-58/SP-69)
Supports and hangers get treated as an afterthought on a piping isometric — until a span or load issue shows up downstream. The documentation is quick to build once, then reusable across every support on the project.
Datasheet — span, load rating, and support type limits captured against the process requirement, not left to be worked out on-site.
Method Statement — installation sequence and correct torque/anchor procedure for supports, guides, and anchors.
Risk Assessment — dropped-load and overhead-work hazards — the two most common support-installation incidents.
ITP — span verification and load test called out as explicit hold points.
Checklist + Excel Tracker — covers spring hanger cold/hot travel settings, which basic support checklists frequently miss.
4. Tank Bund/Dike Wall (API 650 Appx I & NFPA 30)
Bund walls sit at the intersection of civil construction and fire/environmental compliance, so they need both a civil method statement and a containment-volume calculation — most generic templates cover only one.
Datasheet — required containment volume and freeboard limits specified alongside the wall dimensions.
Method Statement — working-at-height and excavation controls for wall construction, called out explicitly since these are frequently overlooked.
Risk Assessment — hydrostatic and collapse risk rated at the same severity as the excavation risk, reflecting how these walls are actually built.
ITP — includes a containment volume check as a hold point where a design review is specified.
Checklist + Excel Tracker — verifies containment volume and liner condition against design targets at completion, not just mechanical completion.
Disclaimer, This document/template is a general guide intended for reference and drafting purposes only. It must be verified against project-specific standards, codes, and manufacturer’s documentation before use. It does not replace a certified engineering design, professional engineering review, or manufacturer’s installation instructions.
